Breaking the Rules

A two-year old knows how to challenge rules and we laugh and enjoy them as they test every rule they can. As we grow older, rules start to define who we are and keep us on a certain path. I agree they are important and valid (some of them). As there are so many ways to live life, it becomes easier if we have some rules to base our life on. Some of these rules we learn from others and some we decide from experiential learning.

I am not opposed to rules per se, yet I find so many of us have boxed ourselves in as a result of our old rules and rigid beliefs. Re-exploring and testing some rules can be most refreshing and awakening. It is how I have moved into discovery of what really suits me and what is a box that is restricting my happiness, my growth and my expression of who I really am.

I do have one rule I keep no matter what: try not to hurt anyone as I challenge myself to test every rule I have so I can clearly define myself without having any former restrictive beliefs from outside forces limit my expression of Self.

This is not a road for everyone, I give you that. Yet I do believe it is why we are here: To Be All Of Who We Are; not who someone else tells us who we are. This is not an easy path, so perhaps you may want to explore one rule that feels like it is restricting you and see whether it is really useful in your life, whether it is hindering more than helping. The first thing you can do to break through some of these boxes is stop judging others for having different rules. Put that energy into who you are and who you choose to become.

So for the New Year, this is what I wish for everyone. Go ahead a break a rule (with the exception of not intentionally hurting anyone; yeah, that is my one rule I am going to ask all to adhere to) and let each of us be more of who we are individually.

Lots of Love for the New Year and Break a Rule!

Gentleness

This word, oh the magical energy within this word. It is not that I do not love and honor strength as I adore strength, but does there have to be a separation of these two? No, this is where so many of us miss out.

A man that I find most attractive is one that is strong and so strong that he does not have to show he is strong; he allows and enjoys being gentle without ever worrying or questioning his strength. And men, I know you love the gentleness and openness in a woman. By your being gentle with us, you allow us to open up in safety. The softness and beauty of a woman has to be caressed and cared for, just as a flower needs the caressing of the sun and the nurturing of the ground to fully open.

I find it so interesting that some see gentleness as a weakness. When a person can be gentle and not lose him or herself, but allows him or herself to be gentle with themselves and with others; that is true power. It is a rare find that someone can be so strong and so powerful that they can be incredibly gentle and stay true to themselves. There is no need to name or over exude strength or power; there is a deep confidence of knowing of self.

So gentleness is what I choose to exude, as this is what I find missing so much in our lives. Being it, sharing it, brings it to me and creates more of it. Who does not want gentleness?

Gentleness, this is what I wish for all.
- The gentleness of the magical touch between a man and a woman;
- The gentleness of a mother with her child;
- The gentleman who smiles, admiring and honoring a woman by opening the door, recognizing her softness and her beauty;
- The gentleness of the soft coolness on your skin;
- The gentleness of the wind;
- The gentleness of a child smiling back at you;
- The gentleness of the unconditional love of your dog;
- The gentleness of the other driver smiling when you almost ran him/her over as you changed lanes;
- The gentleness of forgiveness;
- Oh how I love gentleness.

This is one part and this is not all that I love, but wow I do love gentleness.

Gently sharing,

Dale
